  1. I got a popup saying that the disc image file is corrupted when I tried to mount it. Is it actually? Has anyone else gotten this error message? Or would running a virtual machine or something solve this? I’m running windows 11 so I know that might not work, but it telling me it’s corrupted has thrown me. Thanks!

  2. I got it to work on a vmware windows xp virtual machine. It didn’t work at first but i got a french version to work and then the English version started working as well. There is a bug where however long you brush the horse the gauge it never turns green so you have to go in your saves horses and write Done instead of Todo in the first column in whichever horse your trying to brush.

If you have any question ill try to come back to this page regularly as it took me months to figure out how to play it.

    • I’m actually French and I was looking everywhere to find a version of the game in my language! I had the original cd when I was little but this was destroyed when my parents threw away my old pc not knowing the disc was in it. I tried to run the English version of this site but it seems the game does not launch because of the protections on the original disc.
I would be very interested in the French files you found. Could you tell me where you found it? I would be extremely grateful to you.

    • i have some problem with the first time i should brush the horse, if i save before going in and edit the same file and put brush to done, thomas still won’t let me ride, he says there are still tasks todo even though i did everything else as well and everything is green. How did you fix that?

    • Hey, hope you’re still reading this (or anyone else who figured it out) – I got the American version to work and it is just as you said, the brush tool doesn’t work. I tried to go to my saves, however I cannot seem to find the right file, as I have none where it says “Todo” or anything similar, and the only file I have where something about brushing is mentioned is not editable… Any input? Thank you so much!

    • the only way i’ve found is to install a vitrual machine (i used windows XP on VMware, with a youtube tutorial) and use daemontools to mount the ISO file you can here. Then link the Disk of the virtual machine to the disk from daemontools and you should be able to launch it.

      • you don’t need daemon tools??? you just use wincdemu which is not a cash grab btw unlike daemon, and you mount the iso in the VM itself lol

  3. Hi I finally got the game to work for me!! I followed the steps in the following video and this did the trick for me! Hope it helps someone else too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr3_OGD_AeQ

You’ll have to secdrv.sys, add it to C:WindowsSystem32 and then go into settings > recovery > Advanced start-up

    In the advanced start-up you’ll go to troubleshoot > advanced options > start-up options > restart > 7

After you did this you’ll make sure to mount the disc image file again and you’ll be able to start the game after this.

  4. If anyone is interested in playing this game, the easiest solution i’ve found that really works is to use a DRM free version of the .exe. If anyone is interested, i can send it to them at : [email protected]
However, I did this AND had the original CD, so maybe it only works that way, but if you’re really nostalgic like me it’s honestly not too expensive, I found mine at like 5€ including shipping cost on amazon.

  6. UPDATE:

I had taken to Reddit to try and solve the mystery of getting this game to work. And honestly – I don’t think it will unless you have a physical copy of the disc and you have a computer or laptop to hand with Windows XP OS installed.

I was advised by someone on Reddit to try a virtual machine – which I did, and got Windows XP running separately to my Windows 10. I managed to share the files and get the copy of the installation files etc onto the virtual XP machine to see if it would work. The game installs fine, but then when you press play you get this message: ‘please insert the correct dvd-rom select ok and restart application’. I did some research online and judging by what others have said – I’m not sure this game would work at all unless you can play it as I’ve mentioned above – with the original disc and a computer with the old XP OS running as standard.

I did try you guys! If anyone has any other ideas they would like to share pleaaaasse feel free! If there’s some way we could workaround getting this game to run it would be awesome.

  7. I ed this game, been having same problems as everyone else with it not loading the game but installs perfectly the other times I installed it, this time it didn’t install the directx9 thing, so when I update my laptop I will try again with installing that directx9 but I have also tried to mount the iso with winCDemu but still same thing, no game appearing. so any help will be great even explaining to me how to mount the disc as I have already ed a PowerISO program before winCDemu. so please help if can, would love to go back to my childhood with this game working.

  8. Installation works smoothly, but opening the exe doesn’t work. Auto run menu does popup, so can press play, install and uninstall, but no process actually starts up when pressed play. Did check that Direct3D acceleration is enabled, also running it as ister and tried to run in XP or Windows 7 compability modes but neither of those worked either.

    • Same problem with me 🙁 I’ve checked everything and followed the settings as other people have advised in previous comments. Just want to relive my childhood!

  9. I’ve ed the game and everthing went smooth until I was gonna play. I get the game menu up and everything, but when I click play it just disappears and doesn’t start. Any suggestions?

      • Did check if DirectX has Direct3D acceleration enabled? Go into dxdiag and under display if shows if it’s enabled or not. Once i got mine enabled the game started up!

        • I have that activated on mine, but even after I clicked install and then play, a window pops up and asks if I am happy for the .exe file to make changes, then nothing happens. Has anyone had any luck with this? (I checked ad direct3D was enabled)

        • I’ve had the same issues… it told me to ‘’ as so I did, ran the program and I get the same ‘…make changes’ pop-up and then nothing else happens 🙁 I did the same and double checked my DirectX settings and there didn’t seem to be a problem there!

  10. I ed this, but there’s no game in the folder just
    Pippa Funnell.ccd
    PippaFunnell Disc Image file
